One interesting factor to the novel is Juanita creates the facial emotions on the Metaverse while Hiro is the one who creates the bodies and fighting with swords tech. however, it shows how soon people are utilizing the importance of Juanita's skills for business purposes.
The story of Snow Crash is a mixture of symbolism for Ecofeminism and how society tries to dominate over nature as a means of control and power. Hiro’s name is one of the first symbols by having two meanings hero and Hiroshima. Y.T. is a symbol of what America’s youth has to endure such as loss of identity. She also symbolizes the need to use other’s source of energy when she hitches a ride on the back of automobiles. Juanita and Hiro are perceived as the creators of Metaverse. Interesting enough, in the Bible, Eve was the one tempted by the apple; however, Juanita warned Hiro of the dangers of Snow Crash. Raven symbols the fall out of societies needs to control. A raven is known for death and Hiro is drawn to get need Raven. One Example of this is when T-Bone was trying to catch Raven and Hiro joined in on the chase.
Becky Geer presentation argues that the role of Y.T. is less of a feminist role and more of a sex symbol when it comes to how her body image is viewed. My presentation gives a different aspect of Y.T. role within society. If one looks as Y.T. as a young America they can see her as an attraction of change. She can also be perceived as always being involved in other peoples drama such as America is continually involved in other countries affairs. Even though Becky’s presentation is much different than mine, when looking at Y.T. in a different way it also enhances my presentation as Y.T. as a symbol of America being young.
So one thing to question is if everything came out fine for Y.T., then is the author saying America will prosper while the environment continues to be abused? Also what have we learned about our role as humans and why is it seen in many futuristic novels the authors give humans another chance to ruin either another world or create a fake one to live in? Why not show the submission of humans to what nature gives back as revenge?
